Frequentis | Maritime Vessel Traffic Control Solutions

Founded in 1947 and headquartered in Austria, Frequentis operates a worldwide network of branches, subsidiaries, and local representatives in more than 50 countries. Primarily serving the aviation industry in operational and control tower and safety technologies, Frequentis’ technology can be found supporting 49,000 operator working positions, and in approximately 150 countries.

Frequentis is regarded as the global market leader in voice communication systems for air traffic control solutions. In addition to civil aviation, over recent decades Frequentis’ safety-critical communication and information solutions are also in operation across defence, public safety, maritime, and public transportation markets.

One of its swiftly developing divisions, Frequentis Maritime, provides safety critical communications including VTS (Vessel Traffic Systems) to ports and maritime safety control centres on a worldwide basis.

As the maritime division was still in its infancy in the UK region, Watermark was approached to support Frequentis Maritime in identifying a strategy for the company to penetrate the UK maritime sector, and to support its engagement in this field, with a particular focus on tenders and large-scale projects.

Watermark spearheaded, managed, and delivered several market research projects which were specifically focused on UK ports and the UK maritime and shipping sector. This market research was then forensically appraised by ourselves, and which resulted in Watermark’s delivery of a comprehensive strategic engagement plan to support Frequentis Maritime in penetrating the UK maritime sector.
